Will It EVER END?!?!?

Last Sunday night Jace woke up three or four times crying because his stomach hurt so bad. He was so tired though, that we would go in his room, rub his back for a minute, and he would fall back asleep. I hate when there is nothing I can do. Then Monday morning rolled around and he seemed fine. At about 3:00 Brock's mom said that he just started crying and crying and looked like he was in so much pain. I went to go get him, and he didn't even want to get up. I had my work Christmas party that night, so we left him with Brock's parents, and of course, he threw up all over the place. I felt awful. He slept fine that night, and then when I took him to school he really didn't want me to go and he complained of a stomach ache again. I left anyway (being the great mother that I am) and Brock's mom called saying that he wouldn't stop crying and screaming. I called in sick and turned around to go get him. We spent the day at home, but he was just fine. Then that night Nixon woke up several times struggling to breathe. It was Brock's turn to call in sick, so he did, and took Nixon to the doctor. He had croup. They gave him a prescription for steroids, and said we just had to let it run its course. We had a couple of rough nights with him, and I just felt so bad for my poor baby. Then Saturday came around and I woke up with the worst sore throat! My whole body just ached, and I didn't want to move. That continued to Sunday, and then Monday Brock said his throat hurt too. We both woke up this morning still in so much pain, so I decided to get it checked out. Yep, strep throat. I called Brock and he made an appointment as well. Strep throat for him too. Man! I think everyone should stay away from our house for a while! I think though, that by the time Christmas comes (in two days) we will have been on medication long enough not to be contagious anymore, and to be pain free! Lets hope for a Christmas Miracle!

P.S. Actually, I really already got a Christmas miracle. Yesterday, I went to pick the boys up at Brock's parent's house and I had some mail there. We lived there while our house was being built 3 years ago, so naturally, I still get mail there. Anyway, it was from Jordan Valley Hospital where Jace was born 3 years ago, and it was a refund for overpayment of medical bills in the amount of $407.00! Whatever made them catch this mistake 3 years later I am grateful for! Woo Hoo!

Ward Christmas Party

This morning was our ward Christmas party. Brock and I are on the activities committe so we were able to help keep everything going. I kept the breakfast room stocked and Brock helped with all the take down. We missed setting up last night because we were at a fun Christmas party with old friends from high school. Thanks again Bonhams! In preparation for the big day I took work off yesterday so I could cook all the meat before hand. 8 pounds of bacon and 8 pounds of sausage....yummy! I am pretty sure my house is going to smell like bacon for the rest of time. Gross. Brock and I were in charge of getting all the groceries, and let me tell you, we got some strange looks as we were pushing around 2 carts FULL of food. 14 dozen eggs, 10 gal milk, 14 gal orange juice, 6 HUGE bags of cheese, 10 fruit bowls, a huge box of hashbrowns, 16 dozen little bagels, and more. I thought it was going to be way too much food, but of course, it wasn't. We had a nice breakfast (I realized as the program was going on that I was starving! I never ate since I was trying to keep everything stocked.) Followed by a fun program. I was informed as I got there this morning that they needed me to sing a solo of a song I had never heard, so I was really nervous. Everything went really well though and it was a lot of fun. Then Santa came and all the little kids got to get their pictures taken, and tell him what they wanted this year. Jace asked Santa for games. I hope Santa delivers ;) Nixon fell asleep right before Santa came, so he's asleep in the family picture, but when he woke up I was able to sneak in the line and get a cute one with the boys. Overall, it was a lot of fun, but I am glad its over! Thanks to Amy and Audry who really did all the work.

Mountain Blue

My sister Julia recently tried out for, and made it as lead soloist in an acapella quartet called Mountain Blue. They had their first performance at the BYU Acapella Jam on Wednesday, and let me just tell you, she is amazing. The whole group is, but Julia really shines. I am so proud of her, and just wanted to let you all know that you can go to Deseret Book and buy their CD to hear just how good they are. Of course, its not her singing on the CD since she just joined, but check them out anyway and I'll let you know when her first CD comes out. Or you can go to mountainblueharmony.com to see their website. Anyway, here are a few pictures of Wednesday night. The other girl in the picture was just filling in for the night. They are currently looking for a tenor, so if you know anyone...

Nixon is 9 Months

I took Nixon in for his 9 month appointment last night. I got there at 5:50, ten minutes early, and they didn't call us back until 7:00! I was so mad! Then, they weighed him, took his measurements, and then I waited another 20 minutes for the doctor! It wasn't even busy. There were like 2 other people in the whole building. Then of course, it took all of 10 minutes once she saw him. He weighs 17.5 pounds (5%) he is 28 inches (25%) and his head is 17 cm (5%). We have a little guy. The doctor asked if I had any concerns and I told her that he's not crawling, and he has no teeth, but I'm not concerned. I really don't mind that I can set him on the ground and not worry about him getting into the Christmas tree, the decorations, the kitchen drawers, etc. She wasn't worried either. She set him on his stomach and he looks like he'll be crawling any day now. I told her I've been trying to get his teeth to grow too, but no luck there either! ;) No shots this time, thank goodness, and overall, we have a happy, healthy baby boy.

ALREADY?!?! He's Only 3!

I guess it starts young.
Every time we go to Brock's grandparent's house, we all sit around and look through the ads. Jace has already started pointing everything out saying, "I want that, and that, and that, and that"...you get the idea. He thinks he is getting everything he sees for Christmas. I didn't know it would start so young! He was nice enough to point to something he doesn't want, or that is for a girl, and say, "I'll get that for you mommy." He's so nice. He was doing this all weekend, and finally I said, "Where is the money coming from for all of this stuff you want, and all the stuff you're buying for us?" He quickly replied, "In daddy's pocket." It was so funny. I guess they learn young.

Then, on Saturday, we went to Costco with Brock's parents and Shauna took Jace to get a hot dog and a drink for Dale. Jace saw a churro, and asked Grandma if he could have one. Being the kind, generous grandma that she is, she said that of course he could have one. He looked up at her with a serious look on his face and said, "Grandma, I don't want to ask Santa for it." She started laughing, and said, "Okay, you don't have to ask Santa, you can have it right now."
I guess we have been telling him a little too often, that he needs to ask Santa if he really wants something. He is so funny.
