Baseball with Water Balloon

Brock and Jace thought it would be fun to play with water balloons in the backyard today since the sun was finally shining. After throwing them around for a minute or two, they decided it would be really fun to hit them with the baseball bat. After Jace hit the first one and got splashed all over, he said, "That was not a good idea Dad." It was so funny. Then I made him do it again so I could get a picture.

Waiting for the pitch

Filling the balloons.

Strike ONE! You can see it popping on the ground behind him.

GOT IT! Love the face he's making!

Now it's daddy's turn to hit one.

Don't ask me how it didn't pop! The balloon just went oblong, and then broke on the grass.

Missed! Again with the face.

A Day at the Park

My friend Lindsey was in town from California for a couple of days, so a few of us ladies met up at Draper Park to catch up and let our kids play.

Jace wasn't quite as enthralled as the other two. After I stopped pushing him "as high as it can go" he just swung slowly with his eyes closed. Right when I tried to get a picture of it though, he opened them. It was pretty funny.

We forgot to get a picture while everyone was there, so Steph West and Heather had already gone home.

Me, Lindsey, Jenn, Alisha, Steph

Love these ladies! I do not get to see them enough!

Bad mom moment. When we got home, and I went to get Leila out of the car, I noticed she was bright red! We have had rainy day after rainy day this Spring, and I am not yet in "sunscreen mode". I felt so bad! Look at that burn!! Poor girl. Luckily the boys didn't get burned. If you look close, you can see a white stripe on her head where her headband was. Sorry Leila!

Back Tickles

So, remember when you were a kid and it was always a fight to see who got to sit by mom in church so she could scratch your back? Well, that is what our lives have become. But not just in church. Pretty much any time we all sit down to watch TV, or a movie too. My boys always want me to scratch their backs...and their bellies, and arms, and legs, and faces. And whenever one of them asks, the other suddenly needs his done too. "Mommy, tickle my back please." "Mommy tickle my belly please." They have to say please. Daddy always offers, but for some reason he's not good enough! I guess it's the fingernails, or lack thereof.
Here is a cute picture of us the other night after dinner before jammies.

Leila loves getting back and face tickles too. She sits perfectly still as soon as I start. This is just a cute picture of her the same night.

Jace's Hair

We went to a park the other night to have the Keddington Family pictures taken. Afterwards we let the kids play. We had to get a couple pictures of Jace's awesome hair on the slide!

(We don't know who that girl is behind him. She couldn't wait until he was off.)

Jace's Pre-School Graduation

Jace has gone to Woods Cross High School Day Care on and off since he was 8 weeks old. His grandma Shauna is the teacher, and we have considered it a blessing that our kids have always had somewhere safe to go with someone who loves them while Brock and I are at work. They have a pre-school as well, and Jace just finished his 3rd year. He's the oldest in the day care besides his best friend Bennett, who still gets to come every once in a while after kindergarten. He loves going every day, and we are both sad to see it end.

Here he is with all of the kids in pre-school, waiting for the program to start.

They got to sing lots of songs with fun actions.

Nixon will start pre-school next year, but they let him go whenever he wanted to this year, so when he knew the song they were singing, he would jump up and sing with them.

"If you're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it!"

"If you're happy and you know it shout HOORAY!"

"My daddy is a trashman, and always says PEE YEWWWW!"

"Let's go fly a kite!"

Then, the four kids who were graduating went into another room for a minute, and got to come out to the graduation song. They marched out, and around the table for everyone to see.

They were each given a diploma, a year book, and a DVD with a slide show of the year. Shauna said nice things about everyone. Jace was first. Shauna said he is the leader of the class. He also the class clown, and loves to make everyone laugh. He is a good reader, and they ask him to read to the class sometimes.

Then, all four graduates moved their tassels to the left!

Such a big boy! We are so proud of you Jace!

Here he is with his teachers, Darla and (grandma) Shauna

Leila Jade's One-Year Pictures

Leila has now been one for a month now, and just gets cuter every day! She is walking around all the furniture, trying to get up the stairs, walking behind toys and laundry baskets, or anything else she can push around. She loves to stand up and let go of everything and see how happy it makes everyone. She does it over and over. Her longest stint of standing with no help is probably 20 seconds. We think she'll be walking in just a few weeks now. No steps yet though. I have to edit this, and add that she took her first steps last night!! I took her in for her 12 month well check a couple of weeks ago, and she is getting to be such a big girl! She weighed 20 lbs. 3 oz. (25%), she was 30" long (95%), and her head was in the 50%. I also took her to Thanksgiving Point during the Tulip Festival to have her one year photos done. My friend Stephanie West of Blackbird Photography did them, and, as always, did a fantastic job. Leila is usually the best baby, and rarely cries, but I didn't even think to remember how much she hates the feeling of grass! The whole place is GRASS! (Notice in all the pictures with grass, her arms are held up) She cried almost every time I put her down. It was a lot of fun. I finally picked a dandelion to see if that would keep her occupied, and for the most part, it worked! Here are the pictures. I didn't pick just a few because this is my blog, and I love them all! Thanks again Steph, and to check out her stuff go to myblackbirdphotography.com
