Sick Talon

Talon has had a rough month or so.  He has been so sick!  One night in January he woke up in the middle of the night and could hardly breathe!  He would cough, that croupy sounding cough, and just really struggled to breathe.  Brock wrapped him tight and warm, and took him outside to let the cold air open up his lungs, and then took him into the bathroom and turned on the shower to let the steam open up his airways.  Then he slept for a while, but then woke up again with the same problems, so Brock took him outside again.  He's just the best.  The next day, he still had the cough, but it went away after a bit, and he slept fine the next night so we didn't take him in.  Then the next day I noticed that he had lots of goop in his right ear, so I wondered if his eardrum had burst.  I took him in for that, and the doctor told me that it had in fact burst, and he also had pink eye, croup, and RSV!  Poor baby!  His eyes had just barely started turning pink that afternoon, so I was glad that we could get medicine for that too.  They had to do some tests to check his oxygen levels, and then they had to stick a tube down his nose into his throat to clear out mucous, and then check his oxygen levels again.  They were better, so they gave him a steroid for the croup, and sent me to the pharmacy for eye drops, ear drops, and an oral antibiotic.  Fun.

He's so happy, even when he's sick!

This is how they tested his oxygen

And these are his medications.  One teaspoon orally  for 10 days,  4 drops in his right ear twice a day for 7 days, and 2 drops per eye 4 times a day for 10 days!  Horrible!

12 Week Challenge

Brock and I entered a 12 week Challenge at our gym at the end of September.  I thought it would be good to be on a strict diet and workout plan through the holidays, and while it was, it was also the hardest thing I've ever done!  12 weeks doesn't really seem like that long of a time when you say it, but as you are doing it, it is crazy long!  I wanted to see if I stuck hard to a diet and workout plan for that long, what my body would do.  It was pretty amazing.  I had definition, and muscles everywhere by the end!  I had a six pack!  (Although, the after pictures below don't look that great).  I learned a lot about myself, and about my body.  I learned that I rely heavily on carbs, and really just being able to eat what I want when I want.  I was noticeably shorter tempered, especially with my kids, and that's not okay with me.  I learned that I don't ever want to diet again.  It's just not worth it.  When all was said and done, I ended up losing 11 lbs., 3% body fat, and 4.5 inches off my waist and hips.  Which is amazing. But again, not worth it.  When I eat whatever I want, whenever I want, I might weigh more, and not have quite the abs that I would like to have, but I am happy.  And I honestly notice a difference in my patience level, and attitude.  I ended up tying for first place!  I am so glad it's over, and that I won!  But again, I don't want to diet ever again!  I love going to the gym, and working out, and I'll continue to do that, but I love food, and I'm going to enjoy it!

These first pictures are at 6 weeks - so half way.

And these are the before and after pictures that they took at the gym.  I'm kind of disappointed with my afters.  My arms and back look really good, but when I looked in the mirror, I honestly had so much more definition in my abs than these after pictures are showing.  (Brock stopped the diet like 3 weeks in :))

Just Being Silly

Leila wanted her towel wrapped around her hair like mommy does.  I think she looked adorable!

These cute kids keep trading their clothes.  It is hilarious!  This time it was their jammies.

I noticed after baths the other night, that the three big kids all had bat underwear on, and of course, had to get a picture!  I took a million of them being so silly, but promised I would only put the pictures with the "normal" poses on the blog.

Talon makes fishy faces all the time!  So we got a picture of us doing it together.

Love My Mom and Sister

Since Matt and Julia were in town for New Year's weekend, we all got together as adults and went to dinner at the Red Butte Cafe.  Then we went back to the condo and the girls played games while the boys watched a UFC fight on TV.  Annie and Maria didn't come back to the condo, and Dane had to work, and of course Nolan and Treo are in St. George so they weren't with us for any of this.

I love these ladies more than anything!  Even though they killed me at Nines!

Nixon's Basketball Game

Nix had another game against another huge team.  It's so funny to see our kids next to theirs, but even better to see Nixon guarding their tallest player...who is usually a girl!  He stuck with her though, and was awesome defense!

Kids

Here are a few pictures of my silly kids this week.

Talon loves to be with Daddy

Leila got these awesome press-on nails from Santa, and she finally got to wear them!

They lasted a couple of hours

I love this cute Mickey jacket that aunt Natalie got for Talon for his birthday.

He thought it was fun to see Mickey in the mirror

Then, he put daddy's hat on, and was dancing around, and shooting hoops

New Year's Eve

We had a great New Year's Eve.  The day was spent at the house, except for Brock who had to work, and I just cleaned all day while the kids played.  Then, for dinner we went to the Spaghetti Factory with Grandma and Grandpa K, and Natalie and Gracie.  This has become somewhat of a tradition for us.  We've done it the last few years now.  The kids love it, and so do we!  They got a little crazy with their spaghetti and meatballs though!

Nixon thought it was more fun to not use utensils

So then Jace had to try

And Talon never uses utensils

Then Leila got in on it too

Where are the parents around here?

Leila and I were twinners with our camo pants and boots
Then we went back to our house for games, and snacks, and playing until midnight!
Playing "Say Anything"

Another picture of the twins

Talon chased Gracie around and around saying "Ball-ee"  (belly) over and over

Nixon got in on it too

Then we went downstairs to play lightning, at Jace's request.

I won twice, even though I'm not pictured

Talon still loves his little hoop from his birthday

Then back upstairs for Heads Up

This one is kind of like charades

Then, at about 10:45 we decided to do the countdown because Grandma and Grandpa were not going to make it to midnight!

Counting down...Jace is mad because he knows it's not real

Happy New Year!

Love of my life

Then things got a little crazy!

And then within 30 minutes, Grandma and Grandpa were gone (Natalie had taken Gracie home even earlier), and the big guy was OUT!

Next was Nixon

Leila hung in there the longest!

But then all the kids were gone.  Only Brock and I made it to midnight!

2014 was good to the Keddington family.  I hope that 2015 is even better!
