The Dirty Dash!

The next morning we woke up and had a delicious breakfast.  Lyndsey made yummy eggs with ham and cheese to give us some protein for the race!  We had muffins, and fruit too.  We were supposed to run the 8:40am heat, but decided to get ready and leave by 8:30, and just make whatever heat was going.  Well, we ended up leaving around 10:00, and got there right when the 10:20 heat was going.  We started going, and had so much fun!  We definitely got filthy, and there were some scrapes and bruises along the way, but for the most part it was just a lot of laughing and screaming and having a blast!  I am so grateful for Lynette and Heather who brought their cameras along on the race.  Otherwise, we'd have no proof!  The cameras were in a bag for part of the race, and had mud and dirt all over them, so some of the pictures are kind of blurry, but that just adds to the authenticity!

Joey, being the responsible adult that he is, decided against it.  The three other guys came back up with scrapes all up and down themselves!  Beneath the mud were hidden rocks and branches.  Joey was the smart one!

The water was really cold! 

I know you can hardly see us, but Lynette and I were about to cannonball into the mud.  It was so much fun, and I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

We actually went the long way, but then took a different short cut later.

Made it!  You can see some cheaters going around.  Everyone would BOO them as they did that!

KING of the MOUNTAIN!   Well, the haystack anyway.

This water slide at the end ended up being kind of a death trap!  Well, for some people.  I couldn't even get going, and had to run down some of it, but once I was down, the people on the far left side were coming down so freaking fast!  At the end of the slide was just mud, but there were these huge deep ditches that the water and people sliding had caused, and they would hit the ground and get stuck in the ditch and slam to a stop!  Then the next person would come right into them at like 50 miles an hour!  Brock ran up to tell them to stop letting people down that side.  It was crazy!  Lyndsey got going so fast that she passed Lynette, and ran into two other girls and got a fat lip in the process!  Everyone else seemed to have fun though!

Right before the finish line were these huge pools of mud!  Some of us jumped in!

I wish we would have gotten some pictures of the showers!  We paid for the warm showers, and the line wasn't very long, so we were excited.  Little did we know that each person in front of us was going to take 15 minutes!  Some people even had bottles of shampoo!  The people in the cold (freezing) showers were in and out!  We waited in line forever! I finally said to no one in particular (the girls in front of us) in a loud voice "HURRY!  WE ARE ALL WAITING FOR YOU!!!"  They didn't really hurry.

We headed back to the condo where all the kids were safe and accounted for, and Jace and I got ready to head back for the Piglet Plunge.  Maddie was supposed to do it with us, but changed her mind at the last minute.  Jace wanted to do it though, so we did.  While we were gone, everyone else headed to a natural hot spring up on Aaron's boss's property just a few minutes away.
