Look Who Got Her Ears Pierced!!

I have thought about piercing Leila's ears pretty much since she was born.  Mine closed up because I didn't wear earrings enough and take care of them, so I thought that by doing it while she was too young to care about them, that that would take care of that problem.  I've been nervous to do it though, because my mom, my sister, and I are all allergic to almost every earring.  I figure Leila probably will be too, and I didn't want to have her ears get infected.  I decided to do it though, and get a really good metal, so I got 24 carat gold little diamonds - which worked out perfectly since her birth stone is the diamond!  I figure, if she refuses to grow hair, or even wear bows or ponytails, then I will pierce her ears! 

Leila gets pretty nervous around strangers anyway, so she had a pretty rough time with this.  She didn't like them wiping her ears with alcohol, or marking them with pen.  I guess maybe she could tell this wasn't going to be a very pleasant thing we were doing.  Luckily, I had talked to some of my friends who have done this, and they told me to call ahead and find out when there would be two workers there so that they can do both ears at the same time.  That was the best advice!  If there had only been one, she would only have gotten one ear pierced!  She cried for a bit after it was done, and on the way home, and then fell asleep.  The next morning when she woke up, the first thing she said was "Ears!  Owie!"  Poor girl!  But she sure looks cute!  She doesn't even notice them any more unless someone mentions it.  Then she says it again.  "Ears, owie!"
