Father's Day

Brock ran the Wasatch Back Ragnar again this year, which happened to be the Friday/Saturday before Father's Day. All he wanted for Father's Day was to sleep. I am afraid to say that this year I realized that I take Brock for granted. When the kids woke up at around 8:00, I had to get up with them, which really isn't bad, but Brock always lets me sleep in on the weekends, so I'm used to 9:00 or 9:30. Then, I took them downstairs and started breakfast. Another thing Brock always does. Pancakes, eggs, toast, and juice. Jace made a card for daddy and used a red marker, because he knows Daddy's favorite color is red. He even wrote "Utes" on the card. We took breakfast up to Brock, and the boys yelled, "Happy Father's Day Daddy!" Jace gave him his card, and I gave him a little present. We got a new Sleep Number bed a few weeks ago, so Brock kept saying that was his present, but you know, he had to have something the day of. I got the kids bathed and ready for church, which Brock usually does while I'm slowly getting myself ready. I had to teach Young Womens too, so I was trying to finish getting my lesson ready as well. Then, since Leila fell asleep right before church, Brock kept her home with him and I took the boys to church to leave a quiet house for him to sleep. When we got home I made lunch. Brock always makes lunch on Sundays. We all laid down and took naps this time. Yes, that makes two for Brock and Leila. Then we headed to Grandma and Grandpa K's for dinner. Man! I've always considered Sunday to be such a nice relaxing day, and now I know why! Brock does everything! I have always known this, but I didn't realize what a big deal it was until I had to do it! I wish I could say that he only does this on Sundays, so that I wouldn't feel so bad, but no. He is like this every day. He gets the kids up and ready for school (or daycare, or the babysitter) everyday. The minute he gets home from work he is playing with the kids, and asking about their day. He helps with dinner, or makes it himself, he cleans up when I don't. He is the husband that does the laundry, the dishes, and all household chores, when they haven't been done. And all of this, on top of taking care of the yard work. He's not one to look around and complain that I haven't gotten to it yet. If I haven't done it, he just does. He loves our children so much, and they are so lucky to have him. I hope to be a better mother and wife because of the father and husband that he is. I love you Brock. Happy Father's Day!

Here he is Father's Day morning with his yummy breakfast in bed

These kids sure love their daddy.

Here he is reading stories. Brock always puts the kids to bed, and "reads" them their books. He has to read the same two books every single night. "Goodnight Moon" and "Where the Wild Things Are". While he was at Ragnar, he was gone for the night, so I had to take over this duty. Jace asked if I knew how to read the books without seeing the books because they can't find them. I told him no. We had to pick two other books. Daddy has the other two memorized, so he can do it. The boys love having daddy put them to bed. This picture is at Grandma and Grandpa K's.
