Tuckered Out

Uncle Justin came to babysit while Brock and I went to dinner the other night, and when we got home at around 8:00 we came home to this.  Nixon and Leila cuddled with him and asleep!  He said that they'd been asleep for about a half hour.  7:30!  That's new for our kids!  I guess he's just that cozy!

Jace Finally Lost His Tooth!

This has been months that we've been waiting for this to happen.  Months!  His top two front teeth have been loose FOREVER!   He finally lost the first one about a month before Christmas.  (It fell out in his sleep, FELL out)  I was so excited for him to lose the other one so that he could sing the famous Christmas song, and I figured with a month to go, it would for sure happen.  Well, nope.  Sure didn't.  We bugged him about it just about every single day, telling him to play with it, or let us just yank it.  He is so funny with his loose teeth.  He is so afraid of it hurting that he doesn't even touch them!  Most kids wiggle them and play with them and try to make them come out.  Not this kid.  He avoids it at all costs. Even brushing his teeth he BARELY touches it.  Anyway, the same day that Jace cut his hair Brock had finally had enough and pinned him down and pulled it out.  I was in the other room and could hear Jace yelling, "No!  No!"  Then finally, "Why?  Why did you do that?"  I knew it was out.  He cried pretty good, and was so mad at Brock.  I went in to comfort him and asked if it really hurt, or if he was just more scared.  He admitted that it didn't really hurt, but he was just really scared.  Brock said he barely had to pull.  It was just hanging there.  Brock felt bad that Jace was mad at him, so he took him for ice cream.  Now, with his new hair cut, and his tooth out (his 6th lost tooth) he really was a new boy!

He chose a Creamy as his treat

Brotherly Love

Jace loves his little brother so much.  He holds him all the time, and loves to be with him.  The day he cut his hair, Talon was crying and he said he wanted to hold him.  When he didn't stop crying Jace said, "I think he doesn't recognize me with my new hair cut."  It was really cute.  When I was cleaning the kitchen I saw Jace laying down with him in the living room.  I just thought it was so cute, I just had to get a picture.

Jace's Hair Cut!

Any time Brock or I have asked Jace if he wants to cut his hair, he always has said no.  He loved his long hair, and I thought it was going to be around forever.  That's why I was so shocked when on Friday he told me out of the blue that he was ready to cut his hair.  He was done having long hair.  I asked if he was sure, and if we should call Angie to cut it, and he said that he was sure, but "not today".  I figured that meant that he really wasn't sure, and it wasn't going to happen.  We decided to keep it a secret from daddy until we actually cut it.  I made the appointment for the following Tuesday, and it was so hard not saying anything to Brock!  But we made it.  Tuesday morning I asked him if he was still sure he wanted it cut, and he said he was.  We headed out to Angie's.  He said he wanted it as short as Nixon's, so she got out the buzzer!  SO crazy!  I couldn't believe how long it was as she was shaving it off and dropping it to the ground.  He was smiling pretty much the whole time, which was a good sign.  I'm glad he wasn't sad about it.  I would have felt bad if he didn't like it.  When she was done, he looked like a completely different person!  It's been 2 and a half years since he had short hair, and it seems like it's been his whole life that he's had long beautiful hair!  I couldn't believe how handsome he looked when it was all done!  I mean, he's always so cute, but with all that hair out of his face you can actually see his whole face!  He immediately looked older, thinner, and totally different!

                                                                          BEFORE...

I kind of thought this was a cute look, but he said no.  Shorter.

Look at all that hair!

                                                                          AFTER!!

We called Brock to tell him that we wanted to come see him at work because Jace had a surprise.  He said, "Did his tooth finally fall out?"  I said, "I'm not telling!"  I knew he would think it was the tooth.  When we got to his office Jace had his hood on, and when he took it off Brock was shocked!  He couldn't believe it!  He loved it to.  We were so glad we decided to surprise him.  It was so fun.  We went to lunch, and then headed home.  Later that night we went to Grandma and Grandpa K's house to show them.  Again, he had his hood on, and they figured the surprise was his tooth.  Nope!  When he took off the hood they were so surprised!  Everyone loves it!  He is a new man!

Talon's First Day at Church

We finally decided that we could brave the cold and our new early church hour (9:00), and we made it to church.  I put Talon in one of his cute bow tie onesies that Aunt Kallie made for him, and at 5 1/2 weeks, he went to church for the first time.  He did fine.  He slept through Sacrament meeting, and then ate during Sunday School, and then Lynette held him during Relief Society.  He fell asleep after about a half hour of her playing with him.  He looked so cute!

Later, when we were at Grandma and Grandpa K's house for dinner, Leila found these cute glasses.  I had to get a picture.

Basketball Pictures

Jace's basketball team had team pictures, and I snuck some of my own.  This is such a cute group of boys.  We are going to miss them all so much when we move!  Hopefully we'll find a house close enough to still play on all of their teams!

Snow

We have had more snow this year than the last 5 years combined, I swear!  The kids have loved playing in it.  It has been so cold too, that even though the last snow was 2 weeks ago, it is still on the ground because it hasn't gotten above freezing.  It's been around 10 degrees most days it seems.  Anyway, the cold doesn't stop these kids from wanting to go out and play.

My Big Helper

The other night, after the kids' busy fun-filled snow day, I told the kids that I was going to start dinner.  Jace said, "Oh good!  I'll hold Talon while you do."  I was so surprised!  What a good big brother!  He came up to me, and took Talon and went and sat down with him until I was done.  (It was just quesadillas, so it took like 5 minutes).  I had to get a picture.

Today while the older 3 kids were in the bath, Brock decided to put Talon in for a minute too.  I had to get a picture of the first bath with all four of our kids!  That's a tight fit!  I guess we can't have anymore kids!

Snow Day!

Thursday afternoon it started snowing, and it didn't stop until Saturday!  We got a call at 6:00 in the morning saying that school was cancelled because of the snow!  That never happens!  Jace goes off track Monday, so it was going to be his last day before that, but he got an early start!  We had a showing for our house between 11 and 1, and our driveway and walks were piled like 2 feet high, so I had to shovel since Brock was already at work.  Wow was that hard!  I haven't worked out forever, and that was quite the work out!  It took me about an hour, and Nixon and Jace were out playing with our neighbors while I did that.  Skee Fox even came by with his four wheeler pulling a sled behind it, and asked if the boys wanted a ride!  Seriously, the best neighborhood ever!  Then,  I wanted to get out of the house before the people came, so I hurried and fed Talon, and then left to meet some of my friends at Heartland Paper to find paper for our Valentine crafts that we're doing Monday.  Then, since we still had some time to kill, I took the kids to McDonald's for about an hour.  When we got home Leila and Talon fell asleep, but Jace and Nixon wanted to go play in the snow.  Luckily, we have the best neighbors, and they let Jace and Nixon play for hours while my babies slept.  First Heather took them to Lynette's to build a fort, jump on the trampoline, and play.  Then, they all went to the church parking lot where Skee was taking kids on rides behind his Rhino.  They were gone forever!  Lynette finally brought them home after 5:00!  They were pretty much frozen solid, but had the biggest smiles and fun stories to tell!  I was bummed that I missed it all, but luckily for me, my awesome friends took pictures and sent them to me!

Here is Skee getting them on the sled

Raimana, Dyson, and Nixon at Lynette's house
Best buddies.  These two ask to play together every single day.  It will be a sad day when we move

Jace and Jordan - Dyson's brother.  So fun having kids the same age right across the street!

What a fun snow day!  These boys were frozen and exhausted when they got home!   We really are going to miss our neighborhood so so much when we move!  That is, if we ever get an offer!  We had four showings yesterday, and another one tomorrow!  Time for another offer - hopefully one that goes through this time!
