Insanity

Brock and I decided to start the "Insanity" workout program for our New Year's resolution to get toned up. It's pretty insane, but we have really really enjoyed it. The workouts are really hard, and super intense, but we have both gotten some really good results. Not huge weight loss, neither of us has a ton to lose, but we are both definitely seeing more definition. I'm pretty sure my stomach will never be what I want it to be, but I may just die trying. Okay, probably not since I can't stop eating everything in sight, but maybe one day I will! Brock works out in the morning after the kids and I leave, and then I work out when I get home from work. It used to be a struggle every day since the kids wanted to watch shows on the big TV, and they would cry and get mad. But now they are used to it, and now they wait until I'm done working out to fight about who gets to pick the first show. I have the nicest kids! Ha! They've mostly adjusted, and know that for the first hour or so after work, while I'm doing this:
and some of this:
They can be found doing this:

or this:

or maybe even this:

I usually have Leila in with me, and since she can't crawl yet it works out nicely. I surround her with toys and little snacks and she entertains herself. Sometimes she ends up getting too bored and falls asleep.
Jace plays his DS, or my iphone, or with his legos. He is pretty good at coming up with something to do.
Nixon always ends up in my room with a movie on, unless Jace is nice enough to let him have a turn on my phone. He's not hard to please.
Thanks kids for letting me have this time to myself!

Family Dinner

Okay, so while my parents are in Malaysia, we decided to keep "family dinner" alive and get together once a month. Well, that hasn't quite happened, but we try. This month it was at our house, and since we were getting home from the cabin at 4:00, and everyone was coming at 5:00 we decided on something simple. Taco Salad. It's a favorite of ours, and it is easy. Dane and Annie called and said that they were sick and they weren't going to make it, so it was just Justin, Maria, Julia, and us. Dane and Annie ended up having strep, so good thing they didn't come! Just kidding. I just got over my own case of strep, so they should have just come. I got it anyway. And Justin thinks he has it now! Anyway, I always do a calendar for my parents of all of us, and I never have enough picture of Justin and Maria, so I took some!

Trying to sneak by me and not get her picture taken. It was a little too close for my camera!

Cute Justin

Cute!

Julia supplied enough corn to feed like 50 people. Thanks Jules! Who's hosting next month?

The Cabin

We love to go to the cabin, and try to do it at least once in the winter, and once or twice in the summer. There was lots and lots of snow, but it was really perfect weather. Nice and sunny, and even warm enough to take off our coats the second day.

Here is Grandpa with sleeping Leila. She took about a 4 hour nap the first day! She always uses the weekends to catch up on sleep that she misses out on during the week when I wake her up at 6:45. Just as a side note, I took her and put her down right after this picture. He didn't hold her for the whole 4 hours!

We went out snowmobiling. Jace was a little worn out.

There were only two snowmobiles, so we all piled on one, and Brett, Kallie, and Beckett got on the other.

So much fun sledding.

Those are fake screams.

Brett and Beckett

Jace entered a new level of "big boy-hood" on this trip. He went down on the sled all by himself, and walked all the way to the top holding his tube, by himself! Seriously a life saver for me and Brock.

Here's Nixon acting like a big boy holding his own tube. And actually, he held one handle while I held the other and we both walked the whole way to the top.

Brock and I took them all for a ride behind the snowmobile. They look pretty comfy!

And my beautiful Leila after her nap.

I wonder why I can't ever get a good tooth shot!

I didn't take any pictures the next day. But it's okay, we pretty much did the same thing! We did go to Bear River Station for a treat though, and we played King of the Mountain which would have been some good pictures of me and Brock. We also had a contest to see who could jump into the snow the furthest. Pretty sure I won. Then we tried to see who could throw a kid the furthest, and so on. It was a pretty good time until Brett threw Beckett in on his back and the powder caved in on his face. It was a good time for the adults, but Becks was pretty mad. Then Brock was throwing Nix in and he belly flopped. It was hilarious! Anyway, sorry, probably not as fun without pictures. So that's our trip! Until next time...

February Randoms

Every night the boys get story time with Daddy. I am never a part of this. It is definitely boys only time. He goes in, tucks them in, reads stories, says prayers, and kisses them goodnight. I caught this picture while Jace was in the bathroom right before bed. Daddy was reading to Nix. So precious. Every night, without fail, they have to hear "Goodnight Moon" and "Where the Wild Things Are". He's been reading these two for probably 2 years now. Maybe longer. So obviously, he doesn't read them. He just sits against the dresser and tells them. Jace even has them both memorized, and "read" "Goodnight Moon" to his class once last year. All the kids thought he was pretty cool.

Another part of their bedtime routine is watching a show after baths and before bed. They love to lay in mom and dad's bed for this.

We have been trying to grow out Jace's hair. We've tried it before, but his hair was so fine and thin so it never really looked to great. Well now that he's getting older, and his hair is so much thicker, I think it looks really cute. It still has a while to get where we want it to be, but we like giving him the Beiber due for now!

And here's Leila just being cute!

Gotta love the yawn picture! You can almost see her teeth!

Ladies Only!

I love girl's night. There is just something about being with my ladies that makes me so happy!
I have been in the Young Women's program in my ward for about 6 months now, and I just love it so much. One of my favorite things about it is the wonderful women I get to serve with. I have gotten to know them all, and just love them so much. We get together once a month and go out to dinner and talk about anything except our lovely young women. Don't get me wrong, we love them, but that is all we talk about every other time we're together, so it's a nice break to just chat, and get to know each other better. All while getting to know some of the yummy places in Bountiful. I am so lucky to know you all!

A couple of weeks ago, I got together with some of my high school ladies for a much needed GNO. We went to dinner, got some yummy cupcakes, and stayed in a hotel for a night. I have to be honest, I was a little disappointed with the turn-out. Not with who the turn-out was, but the fact that if we all came there would be like 20 of us, and only 5 came. I wish everyone loved girl's nights and made them as much of a priority as me. Just sayin. Yeah, I just said Just sayin. Anyway, we had so much fun like we always do. When we got back to the hotel after dinner we went to relax in the hot tub and got to reminisce a bit when a group of high school girls came in to play in the pool. They were loud and obnoxious, and all we kept saying was that was US 10 years ago! They kept apologizing for being so loud and we'd just laugh. Then a group of boys showed up to crash their party and we laughed even harder. Again, that is exactly what would have happened. Someone would have "leaked" the hotel to the boys and they would have come to bug us. We just sat, and watched, and enjoyed as the girls ran away squealing and we actually ended up chatting with the boys for a while. When we told them that we had graduated 10 years ago, they told us they thought we were like 21 and it definitely made our night. Especially considering 3 of the 5 of us were pregnant, and one due in 2 weeks! I told them I had been married for almost 8 years and had three kids, and I think that blew their minds! It was hilarious. Anyway, we had a blast. Love you ladies! Thanks for taking time out of your busy lives to keep our friendship alive!

Uncle Justin Came to Play!!!

My oldest brother Justin doesn't have any kids, and just loves to come hang out with our kids. Before I started working, he would come over once a week to just play with the boys. They play video games, and hide and seek, and pretend Justin is a monster chasing them. They LOVE when Uncle Justin knocks at the door! This week, Justin came over on Monday night and had dinner and FHE with us. The boys were so excited! Leila wasn't too sure of him at first, and got a big frowny face when he first picked her up. Then she started crying. I tried to assure her that even though he is big and scary looking with his goatee, he will be one of her favorite people to play with. She warmed up to him by the end of the night. Thanks for playing with my kids, and loving them like they were your own Justin!

I'm pretty sure Jace doesn't know how to smile for a picture anymore. He always has to be the funny one!

See, now she loves him!

Nixon saying goodbye with a big hug at the end of the night.

On another note, Leila still won't show me her teeth. I took like 20 pictures, and couldn't see her teeth in any of them! Little stinker. I swear they're there, and they are darling! I just love when they only have the two bottom teeth!
P.S. She had just eaten, so her face is still messy!
