Maui: Day 5

Wednesday we made the drive into Kihei to spend the day.  We left around 8:30 so that we could have breakfast at a little cafe there.  Then we headed to Ulua Beach for some snorkeling and playing in the waves.  Justin and Maria headed out first.  When Justin finally made his way out of the water about an hour later, he was all scraped up and bloody!  He says, "I got a little too close!"  He even got stung by something and had tiny little barbs in his hand!  Yowza!  Everyone else managed to stay a safe distance away.

We got stuff for Jace and Nixon, and they got all ready.  They looked super cute, but didn't actually ever snorkel.

My three boys.  They got into the water, and Jace complained that he was too cold.  After some talking, Brock finally gave up on them and went out on his own.  I don't really like snorkeling, so I stayed back.

Leila wanted to try the flippers

Leila hadn't been in the ocean since that first day, and I was so glad that she got over her fear and was back at it again today!  Although, she pretty much had no fear, so we had to keep a close eye on her!
Jace decided that it was hot enough outside that the cold water felt good!

Leila had lots of fun playing with Aunt Juju.

Then Julia asked if I wanted to be relieved of camera duty for a while.  She snapped some pics.

That's Dane and Giada entering the scene

Our family.  Kind of far away, but so fun!  It is so fun to just get in the ocean and play!

Leila was having the best time running to the water and then turning around and running away from the water and screaming!  I just loved watching her play!

Jace was the sand monster again.

Even Annie and Aria got in!

Treo wanted us to pose!  Treo, Julia, and Me!

My dad had been wanting a picture with all 9 grandchildren on the beach.  We gathered everyone up, and took a few.   Love these kids, and that they all play so well together!  The oldest, Leah is 7, and the youngest, Aria, will be one this month!

After everyone got their fair share of sun and fun, half of the group headed back to the hotel.   We wanted to go to Big Beach and show our kids what real waves look like!  Dane and Annie and Granny and Grandpa came with us.  The waves weren't particularly huge, like they have been when Brock and I have been in the past, so we didn't stay long.  We saw some boogie boarders doing some cool back flips though.  Brock and I were so looking forward to going to Alexander's for lunch.  They have really good fish and chips, and we had been craving it since we were there last time.  We drove past the place it used to be, and it wasn't there anymore!  Brock googled it, and it said closed permanently!  Lame!  We were so disappointed!  We found another place along the way that had a sign "The best fish and chips in Kihei!" so we just had to eat there.  Liars!  It was good, but not Alexanders!  It was expensive too.  Annoying.  Anyway, we also had to stop and get shaved ice again.  It really is one of my most favorite treats of all time!  We finally headed back to the hotel.  Everyone decided that they wanted to try to see the movie again, so we bought the tickets on our way back so it wouldn't be sold out.  Brock took the boys, and Leila and I stayed home, and just hung out with Treo, Jaylee, and Kash.  We painted our toes.  Leila wanted pink, and since I had just gotten a pedicure before coming to Hawaii, I painted my fingernails yellow.  We went back to our room and pretty much just went to bed.  The boys came home around 10:00, and as I expected, both Jace and Nixon fell asleep during the movie!
