Retiring the Flag

At scouts the other night Jace got to help retire an American flag.  It was pretty cool.  You have to be very specific in how you do it to show respect.  First they brought it out carefully, and everyone saluted, then they had to cut in into specific pieces.  You had to cut along the lines in the stripes, and then cut the whole blue square out as one piece, you couldn't cut through the starts.  Interesting.  Then they threw it on the fire piece by piece, and then we couldn't use that fire anymore.  You had to just let the fire die out on its own.  It was neat.  Then we got to make s'mores on the other fire pit.  Yum.
